Matisyahu respondió a todos las antisemitas y simpatizantes del BDS en el Festival Rototom Sunsplash en España con su interpretación del reggae de “If I Forget Thee Oh Jerusalem”(Si te olvidara o Jerusalem).

Los organizadores originalmente des-invitaron a Matisyahu después de que él se negó a pronunciarse “claramente” contra la guerra y sobre el derecho del pueblo palestino a tener su propio Estado. El cantante judío fue el único artista a quien se le pidió hacer una declaración política para poder actuar- y el único artista judío del festival.
Después de la reacción general en contra de su antisemitismo abierto, los organizadores pidieron disculpas a Matisyahu y lo re- invitaron, diciendo que el movimiento BDS los había influenciado.
Entre los asistentes al concierto, un grupo formado por varias decenas de personas que portaban varias banderas palestinas arrojó una botella de agua y una zapatilla al cantante.
El resto del público presente en la actuación se ha mostrado receptivo con la música de Matisyahu, quien ha aportado su característica fusión de ritmos rock, hip hop y reggae durante los 45 minutos de concierto.
“Gracias por venir juntos para disfrutar de la música”, ha apuntado el artista, quien se ha dirigido al público.”Vuestros corazones son vuestras banderas”, ha señalado Matisyahu, que ha repetido insistentemente la palabra “paz” y se ha despedido con un “gracias Rototom”.
Entre el repertorio de temas interpretado por el artista han destacado los dos últimos: Jerusalem, una canción sobre el viaje del pueblo judío, y One Day (con la que el cantante ha puesto punto final al concierto), una canción sobre el deseo de alcanzar la paz “algún día” en el que “se tratará a la gente por igual, parará la violencia y se derribará el odio”, tal como apunta una de sus estrofas.
